Sirach 50:1,3-4,6-7
(1) It was Simon, the son of Onias, the great priest, Who in his life repaired the house, And in his days strengthened the temple: (3) In his days the cistern of waters was diminished, The brazen vessel in compass as the sea. (4) It was he that took thought for his people that they should not fall, And fortified the city against besieging: (6) As the morning star in the midst of a cloud, As the moon at the full: (7) As the sun shining forth upon the temple of the Most High, And as the rainbow giving light in clouds of glory:
Psalms 16:1-2,5,7-8,11
(1) Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge. (2) My soul, you have said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.” (5) Yahweh assigned my portion and my cup. You made my lot secure. (7) I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. (8) I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. (11) You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.
Galatians 6:14-18
(14) But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (15) For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. (16) As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God’s Israel. (17) From now on, let no one cause me any trouble, for I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus branded on my body. (18) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
Matthew 11:25-30
(25) At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants. (26) Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight. (27) All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him. (28) “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
