Here’s a groundbreaking story. Literally. While the Diocese of Lansing’s Stewardship for Saint and Scholars campaign is still ongoing, the dollars raised by the capital campaign for Catholic education across the diocese are already being spent. Just watch this short film below to see for yourself! If features the first spades being put in the ground at Saint Martha in Okemos where Stewardship for Saints and Scholars money is funding six new classrooms. Deo gratias.
“I am so touched and, actually, overwhelmed by the generosity of all the people that donated to Saints and Scholars,” says Saint Martha’s principal, Andrea Patton, September 27, “we are so blessed to be part of this amazing community.”
Launched last year, Stewardship for Saints and Scholars aims to raise $70 million for Catholic education across the Diocese of Lansing. For some parishes, the campaign is also an opportunity to undertake larger-scale local projects by running a combined campaign. And that is exactly what Saint Martha chose to do!
Hence, the good folk of Saint Martha raised an incredible $4.5 million. A third of that money is going to the diocesan campaign while two-thirds is being spent upon Saint Martha school to build six new classrooms: an additional pre-school room; music room; art room; science laboratory; library; and atrium for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The completion date is Fall 2026.
“We were in the first wave of the campaign, and we just hit the ground running – our people just stepped up so much, they just value Catholic education so much,” explains Principal Patton, “I can’t get over the generosity of our families, our parishioners, and our donors, it’s just outstanding.”
