Colossians 1:1-8
(1) Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy, a brother (2) to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ Jesus who are at Colossae (3) Grace and peace to you, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying for you always (4) For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love that you have toward all the saints (5) because of the hope that has been stored up for you in heaven, which you have heard through the Word of Truth in the Gospel (6) This has reached you, just as it is present in the whole world, where it grows and bears fruit, as it has also done in you, since the day when you first heard and knew the grace of God in truth (7) just as you learned it from Epaphras, our most beloved fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ Jesus (8) And he has also manifested to us your love in the Spirit
Luke 4:38-44
(38) Then Jesus, rising up from the synagogue, entered into the house of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in the grip of a severe fever. And they petitioned him on her behalf (39) And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And promptly rising up, she ministered to them (40) Then, when the sun had set, all those who had anyone afflicted with various diseases brought them to him. Then, laying his hands on each one of them, he cured them (41) Now demons departed from many of them, crying out and saying, “You are the son of God.” And rebuking them, he would not permit them to speak. For they knew him to be the Christ (42) Then, when it was daytime, going out, he went to a deserted place. And the crowds sought him, and they went all the way to him. And they detained him, so that he would not depart from them (43) And he said to them, “I must also preach the kingdom of God to other cities, because it was for this reason that I was sent. (44) And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee
2 Corinthians 4:1-2, 5-7
(1) Therefore, since we have this ministry, and in as much as we have obtained mercy for ourselves, we are not inadequate (2) For we renounce dishonorable and hidden acts, not walking by craftiness, nor by adulterating the Word of God. Instead, by the manifestation of truth, we commend ourselves to the conscience of each man before God (5) For we are not preaching about ourselves, but about Jesus Christ our Lord. We are merely your servants through Jesus (6) For God, who told the light to shine out of darkness, has shined a light into our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of the splendor of God, in the person of Christ Jesus (7) But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, so that what is sublime may be of the power of God, and not of us
Psalms 96:1-3, 7-8, 10
(1) This is to David, when his land was restored to him. The Lord has reigned, let the earth exult. Let the many islands rejoice (2) Clouds and mist are all around him. Justice and judgment are corrections from his throne (3) A fire will precede him, and it will enflame his enemies all around (7) May all those who adore graven images be confounded, along with those who glory in their false images. All you his Angels: Adore him (8) Zion heard, and was glad. And the daughters of Judah exulted because of your judgments, O Lord (10) You who love the Lord: hate evil. The Lord watches over the souls of his holy ones. He will free them from the hand of the sinner
Luke 22:24-30
(24) Now there was also a contention among them, as to which of them seemed to be the greater (25) And he said to them: “The kings of the Gentiles dominate them; and those who hold authority over them are called beneficent (26) But it must not be so with you. Instead, whoever is greater among you, let him become the lesser. And whoever is the leader, let him become the server (27) For who is greater: he who sits at table, or he who serves? Is not he who sits at table? Yet I am in your midst as one who serves (28) But you are those who have remained with me during my trials (29) And I dispose to you, just as my Father has disposed to me, a kingdom (30) so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and so that you may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
