2 Corinthians 4:6-11,16,17
(6) seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (7) But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves. (8) We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; (9) pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; (10) always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. (11) For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh. (16) Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. (17) For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;

Psalms 59:1,9,16-17
(1) Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me. (9) Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower. (16) But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress. (17) To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

Matthew 16:24-27
(24) Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (25) For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. (26) For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? (27) For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.
