What is an Intercessory Prayer Group?
An Intercessory Prayer Group is comprised of people who have a charism for praying for others. This means that, recognizing the power of God in prayer, and being in relationship with Jesus, they enjoy praying by petitioning for the needs of others. Another important element of this prayer group is listening. As they enjoy sacred silence, they listen to God and look to him for direction. This form of prayer is a “crucial element to the work of the New Evangelization.” It has been known to “bear much fruit in parish life” and is essential to the mission of the Church.
This prayer group is not a charismatic prayer group, but if you are interested in charismatic prayer, the Emmanuel Prayer Group (which is made up of parishioners and non-parishioners) meets on Wednesday evenings at the parish. Please contact the parish office for more information on either of these prayer groups.
